The Three R’s

Hello y’all….so many people are asking me when I’m coming back to wrestling since I’ve been out with injuries, and I finally have some answers for you. View full article »

Is it worth $60? Short answer: ABSOLUTELY!

Many of my Days are Gone… to my PS4, and this tremendous new game that has a lot of people talking, and a lot of critics squawking.

Let’s talk about “Days Gone”, a new survival-horror game for the PlayStation 4, and my newest game obsession. I’ve read critics reviews, and a number of them had me baffled. I thought “Did this guy even play the game? Did he play for more than an hour? Did he play the game with his eyes closed? Was his PS4 powered-on?”

The story itself is what hooked me, with its great writing and storytelling. You play the role of Deacon St. John, a drifter from an old motorcycle club called The Mongrels, who was married to Sarah, living in Oregon when a global pandemic occurred. The game begins with you as Deacon, and his best friend William Gray aka Boozer, in a scene where St. John is loading his wife Sarah into a helicopter to receive medical attention. It is believed that there were no survivors in the camp she was brought to. However, later in the story we find out that Sarah was moved to another camp after the first she was brought to became overrun with Freakers. The Freakers are the game’s version of zombies, basically. In fact, one of the aspects of this game that I love, is the fact that the Freakers look and sound a lot like the “Darkseekers” from the Will Smith movie “I Am Legend”, and I love that movie so that’s a big plus for me. So with the fact that Sarah has been moved to another camp, it appears there is a VERY small possibility that she may be alive. Deacon sets out on a mission to discover the truth about what exactly happened to her.

As for the game itself, there’s guns, murder, fighting, motorcycle riding… guns, murder and fighting WHILE motorcycle riding. Tons of action. Lots of really cool weapons (like the sawblade bat. A literal bat with a sawblade attached to it that rips skulls open rather easily). Truth be told, there are some glitches and bugs in the game, and some of them are quite humorous actually, but some do take away from the actual gameplay in the sense that I’ve had at least 2 occasions so far where I needed to quit the game mid-mission to restart the game, and lost that mission’s progress, due to some buggy glitch. But if you like wild shooters, deep interesting emotional story, great graphics (some of the scenery is just amazing), killing zombies and bad guys, riding motorcycles, stabbing people with machetes, lopping zombies’ heads off with a saw blade stuck to a table leg, and so much more just like that, then BUY THIS GAME.

Also the length of the game is good as well. It’s not something you’ll finish in 5 hours, but it’s not gonna take you months either. It’s very well-timed. I can not recommend this game enough. You owe it to yourself to go along with Deacon St. John on this adventure, and have a blast doing it.

I’ll end this here, but if you’re okay with spoilers then read beyond my sign off.

Thanks for your time, and let me know what YOU think about “Days Gone”!

SPOILERS AHEAD:

I fell in love with the story of this game. I compare it in my head to what would *I* do if this was all real and this happened to myself and my fiancé. I would do exactly the same thing. Kill whatever zombies I need to, befriend whoever I can, search out clues, find and do whatever it takes to find out the truth about the woman I love. The scene when Deacon actually finds Sarah alive and sees her for the first time, is a tear-jerker. I stream on Twitch a lot. I got to this scene during a live stream. When the woman in the scene turns around, and the reveal happens, and the player (me in this case) realizes it’s Sarah and she’s alive & well, I let out a loud “HOLY $H!T, IT’S HER!” It was super emotional. As I said earlier, the story is really deep and rich. There’s a lot of killing, murder, guns, violence, yes. But overall, it’s a love story. And who don’t dig a good old-fashioned love story…?

Thanks for reading.

Black Friday 2014

Next year, on Black Friday, I will go to Best Buy for their 6AM Doorbuster sales, and will do one of the following:

1- Wait for several hours with other customers (making sure multiple employees see me). Once they open their doors and the moron stampede rushes into the store, I will run/rush along with them…directly to the register to buy a soda, then leave.

2- Similar to #1, I will wait for several hours with other customers (making sure multiple employees see me). Once they open their doors and the moron stampede rushes into the store, I will run/rush along with them…directly to the register to ask what their “door buster” sales are on bottles of Coke and Sprite.

3- Wait for several hours with other customers (making sure multiple employees see me). Once they open their doors and the moron stampede rushes into the store, I will run in also, but only buy things that are NOT on sale, that I could buy any other time of the year at the same prices.

4- Wait for several hours with other customers (making sure multiple employees see me). Once they open their doors and the moron stampede rushes into the store, I will run in also, go directly to the Home Theater department, tell every employee I see, how terribly exhausted I am because I was waiting out there with all these other customers, then go to the room where they have the TV demo’s with the simulated living room setup, lay on their couch and go to sleep.

5- Show up dressed as an employee (I worked there for 3 years and still have 2 shirts, and khakis). Casually wait on line as if nothing is odd, once they open the store, I will run in with the rest of the crowd, and then only offer assistance to employees.
